Are there any specific equipment or gear innovations that you believe will have a significant impact on the industry in 2024?
The new AI processors in the Sony cameras will change our focus and there will be no more missing shots.
Where do you get the latest news on new gear? Where do you usually buy new gear?
Online, in my community, and in local independent camera stores for gear.
How is photography making the world a better place in 2024?
We are able to tell stories like never before. An image can transport us to a place that we may not even know existed. It can make us dream and imagine as the photographer tells us a story.
What emerging photography trends do you foresee gaining popularity in 2024?
I see more creative photographs being created in 2024 due to the emergence of AI. We are creating better art than ever before, and I think it will lead to us pushing our creativity to the limits we can’t imagine yet.
The biggest trend I see coming at us in 2024 is human-created images.
If you could pick a photography mentor in 2024, who would you pick? Why?
I chose Joel Grimes mainly because I have never seen another photographer able to be so extreme at both light and darkness. He truly can create such storytelling images that are so powerful and gritty to the softness that can only be related to kitten softness with his ability to control light, shadow, and color.
The unavoidable question: How do you see the use of artificial intelligence or machine learning impacting photography in 2024?
I am excited about it. Many people are rolling their eyes and groaning about it. It is here, and I truly think it will push us past the point where we might be stuck. Anyone will be able to create art as they see fit with keywords and such, and that will have its own little genre, much like a postcard. A postcard is usually okay and such for an image, but what we write on it is key.
It is what emotion comes with that picture that AI will never be able to do. Simply entering words and having an image will be cool, but I think as we push past the scary parts of competing with it, we will become stronger artists. We will and can use AI to help and support our creativity.
What is your favorite photography- related book or resource that will continue to have a significant impact on your career in 2024? Why?
Mother Magazine is one of the most awe-inspiring resources that has blown my mind. The Magazine has created an entire entity of creativity as I follow many of the people featured in the book.
What is your go-to method for overcoming creative block and finding inspiration in 2024?
I follow amazing artists and look for inspiration in their work. I use AI for keywords I might think of and see what it spits out. I find it often gets my creativity back moving. I am also very lucky to travel endlessly throughout the year. The world inspires me.
If you could give one piece of advice to a beginner in photography, what would it be?
Create for yourself! The rest comes when you create for yourself.
Can you share a specific tool, technology, or software that has revolutionized your workflow and significantly enhanced your creative process as a photographer?
Adobe Lightroom noise reduction and camera stabilization. It has me pushing limits where I would have been shutting down the camera as the light wasn’t good enough, as I was cranking ISO or dragging that shutter too low. Now, I will push past so many old barriers.
Any thoughts on the relationship of NFT and photography?
If I can sell something on it, that would be great. I find it has become such a time investment, and if you have the best story or adventure, who is in the mix? I saw people adjust their journeys or take parts of other people’s journeys to push their art.
What is your biggest strength and your biggest weakness as a photographer in 2024?
My ability to cheer and support is my biggest strength, as I believe everyone can be amazing! My ability to cheer and support is also my biggest weakness, as I forget that I need some of that cheer and support and that I can be amazing as well. It is one of those things that many people struggle with. Believe in yourself even when no one is looking.
An image can transport us to a place that we may not even know existed.

What is the biggest challenge in your photography genre in 2024? What are the solutions?
Time is the biggest challenge. To be able to put out the best work possible takes time. As the world has hit overdrive with consuming art in every genre, it has been the hardest thing to create fast.
What is the most important factor to consider when choosing a photography niche or specialization in 2024?
Is this what makes you happy? Is this what you want to create? If it is anything else, it won’t be as good as what you can do when you are doing it for yourself.
Is there anything else you would like to add or any final thoughts you would like to share about your artistic journey, inspirations, or the impact you hope to make through your photography?
Our journey is exactly that. It is an artistic path that we hope resonates with our communities and, more importantly, with ourselves. Whatever the emotion, maybe a photo of mine that you see or resonates with you is all I want. Just that emotion, whatever that may be.
