The Four Elements
Objective: Photograph your interpretation of the four classical elements – Earth, Water, Air, and Fire. Each element should be represented in a separate photograph, making a compelling series of 4 shots that speaks to the diversity and power of each. It can belong to any genre as long as you explain why it means that specific element to you. I want to feel the emotion or story behind behind your choices.
Inspiration:
- Earth: Find a scene that embodies the stability, fertility, and life-giving aspects of Earth. This could be lush landscapes, forests, mountains, or even urban environments that incorporate natural elements creatively.
- Water: Represent the fluidity, refreshment, and calm (or ferocity) of water. Look for reflections, underwater scenes, raindrops, rivers, or oceans. Maybe a portrait you’ve shot near some water.
- Air: Convey the invisible yet ever-present air. This might be the hardest but think about how air can be visualized through its interaction with the environment – wind in the trees, clouds, birds soaring high, or even a serene sunrise symbolizing the fresh air of a new day.
- Fire: Illustrate the energy, warmth, and destruction of fire. This could range from a simple candle flame to a grand bonfire, the golden hues of a sunset, or even the abstract representation of fire in urban lights or fireworks.
Submission Process:
- Capture A Different Genre: For each element, step out of your comfort zone and try a genre of photography you’re less familiar with. Each element should push you to explore new techniques, settings, or concepts.
- Share Your Experience: Post each photo in a single post in the community along with a brief description of your photographs and why they represent the elements. This can be posted in the main feed for maximum visibility.
- Upload A Screenshot: Once you’ve posted all four photos and their descriptions, take a screenshot of the post and submit it to receive the elixirs.
Reward:
Successfully completing this task will earn you 4 Elixirs, one for each element you’ve masterfully captured and shared. However, it’s not just about the reward. I want you to feel challenged here as well. We are all growing photographers, after all.
